We are a partnership between Peter Coverdale, one of the UK’s most respected traditional stonemasons and Hughes Bros Construction Ltd; an industry leading provider of construction, civil engineering and groundworks services.

Together, Coverdale Hughes offer more than 100 years of experience in bespoke building, historic repair, and the restoration of properties and homes of distinction.

Peter Coverdale

Peter is a leading expert in heritage restoration and the repair and conservation of historic buildings.

An award-winning stonemason, Peter has more than 50 years’ experience working on heritage projects nationally and internationally, from medieval Grade I listed Cathedrals to Roman-era archaeological sites and Scandinavian Stone Age villages.

A project leader with extensive experience working in rural and urban environments, Peter has been entrusted to restore Castles, Churches, Cathedrals, Museums, Mills, Farmhouses and outbuildings, heritage visitor attractions, halls, manor houses and private residential developments.

In 2011, Peter Coverdale switched from contractor to customer and fulfilled a life-long dream to build his own eco-friendly, organic farm shop and café at Brignall, Teesdale, County Durham.
